Designing spaces that invite your nervous system to slow down.
Tucked into the folds of the Santa Monica Mountains is California's premier alfresco bathing design studio. What began in early 2023 as two hand-built bathing spaces during the actors’ strike quickly evolved into something more.
“I had designed two outdoor bathing spaces in Topanga — one for myself, one for a close friend,” says founder Lucas McGowen. “As the strike lingered, more people began asking me to design spaces for them. I just started saying yes.”
Tubpanga now designs immersive outdoor bathing environments across the country from Maine to Malibu.
“The goal is always to create a space that transports — that invites the nervous system to slow down, even though you’re still in your own backyard.”
The Alfresco Experience
We believe bathing outdoors is as natural as breathing or making love.
We believe bathing outdoors is a necessary exercise for good mental health.
We believe bathing outdoors, especially with heated water on a chilly afternoon to be one of greatest visceral luxuries one can experience in a human body.
